10th Lesson Reflection (Sam Leung)

In today's IPW lesson, Jing Rong was absent, hence the product was discussed between the three of us (Linus, Keng Heem and myself). We discussed the product in detail and is decided that the board-game will be able to played from 1 - 4 players. The looks and the gameplay would be further discussed the next IPW lesson. If not, it is also possible if the group members find a day to work on our product, as we are lacking behind.

9th Lesson Reflection (Sam Leung)

We just started discussing about the kind of board-game our product would be, adapting ideas from the huge varieties of board-games from the internet. We had roughly planned the size of the product and how the game would be played. I hope that the idea product would be finallised and ready for the making in about 2 weeks.

8th Lesson's Reflection (Sam Leung)

Today's IPW lesson reflection:

3 things that i had learn:

1) We have to be proactive. In order to have a lesson as productive as possible, for we are well prepared with the materials needed to conduct the lesson.

2) We also have to be responsible. We have to complete the homework assigned for the week in order to advance to the next lesson, as the homework assigned is materials for the lesson.

3) Lastly, we have to be cooperative. We have to cooperate with one another, as, if a member completes the homework but the rest of the group does not, the group is likely unable to move on to the next lesson. Hence, time is wasted.

2 Things i find interesting:

1) So much more information can be obtained with the help of the public, as tons of useful suggestions that I never thought of was contributed by the public.

2) The amount of time that is saved with the public's help. Lots of time is saved with the public contributing ideas than brainstorming by ourselves.

1 difficulty i had and what i did about it:

With all the suggestions and ideas contributed by the public, i had difficulties collecting the results for the open-ended questions for the survey. As, i had to summarise the the responses. What i did was that i collected the points of the open-ended responses and did my final results in point form.

7th Lesson Reflection (Linus)

3 things I have learnt: I learnt that everyone in our group is important
I have learnt that we need to prepare for a lesson before coming
I have learnt that we need to work as a team

2 things I found interesting: I found the answers of our survey interesting
I found interesting board games on the internet

1 problem I faced: we found it hard to understand the worksheet, but we thought about it and figured it out

Notice

Linus, Sam and Keng Heem, please remove your lesson 6 reflection as it is not done in accordance with the lesson worksheet. The reflection should be done only after the survey has been completed. Please also send me the dates that you are free on this week so I can organise a meeting for IPW.

Cheers,
Jingrong

7th Lesson's Reflection (Sam Leung)

Today's IPW lesson had to be done offline (at home), as a medical check-up was conducted which clashed with the lesson period. Hence, not much work was done. We dicussed a little outside the check-up station and planned for our next task: Complete survey. The due date for this survey is by the next IPW lesson.

6th Lesson Reflection By Keng Heem

We edited some of the survey questions. We changed the open ended questions to multiple choice to make it easier to collate the data.

3.10.2010

6th Lesson's Reflection (Sam Leung)

In today's IPW lesson, we corrected the survey questions brainstormed by our group. He found out that open ended questions were not suitable for surveys. Hence, we modified all questions to MCQ format. The only task left to be done is to get the survey done after the march holidays.

5th Lesson Reflection By Keng Heem

We discussed our responsibility and roles to do in making the project. Our survey is almost ready.

6th Lesson Reflection (Linus)

We have learnt that we should ask for each others opinion before we make any decisions. We have managed to do alot.

5th Lesson Reflection by Jingrong

We have given out duties to everybody and decided what we wanted to do.We will carry out the specific duties assigned to our jobs.We have learnt that teamwork is important in IPW.

4th Lesson Reflection by Jingrong

This week's lesson was productive. We progressed further on.We had little time as CT was approaching but we managed to squeeze everything into one lesson.

3.02.2010

5th Lesson's Reflection (Sam Leung)

We made use of the the 1 period that we had today and made as productive as possible. We had our survey brainstormed discussing about Global Warming and ready for posting.

4th Lesson's Reflection (Sam Leung)

Time is short as we get busier studying for our CT. Hence, we had to make our 1 period of IPW as productive as possible, like we did the last IPW period that we had before our CT. I hope that our group would be able to do the same for our future IPW periods.

2.24.2010

5th Lesson Reflection (Linus)

we have allocated what each of us will do and we will start it soon. we are going to get to our jobs and get them by lesson 7. we have learnt the importance of teamwork and how everyone should contribute to our project, as everyone is important

4th Lesson Reflection (Linus)

the lesson was a bit hard to conduct as everyone was busy, but we managed to get our work done. I hope that we will do well, but we need to work a lot harder and find more time

2.15.2010

4th Lesson Reflection By Keng Heem

Due to our busy schedule, my team had some trouble finding a time to meet up and discuss. However, we all worked together and listed down our guiding questions and areas of research.

2.12.2010

3rd Lesson's Reflection (Sam Leung)

In today's lesson, i felt that there was definitely improvement in team work, but we have to learn to focus on our objectives in the lesson and not to be carried away from the topic easily.

UPDATE:
In the third IPW lesson, we made our objectives clear and started brainstorming for the 9 guidelines for our final product in this IPW lesson and is recorded in Linus' Mac ready for posting.

2nd Lesson's Reflection (Sam Leung)

With a little bit more teamwork in the 2nd lesson, we were able to make improvement in or progress on the 2nd lesson and made our targets clear for the project.

UPDATE:
In the second IPW lesson, we got along as a group and roughly came up with our final product, which is a board game about climate change. We plan to discuss alittle bit more in detail the next lesson.

1st Lesson's Reflection (Sam Leung)

In today's IPW, i have learned that teamwork is extremely important, as we did not cooperate very well and not much work was completed and had to be done as homework.

UPDATE:
Its the first lesson of our IPW and is also the first time working with Jing Rong, Linus and Keng Heem as a group. It maybe because its our first time working together thats why there's a lack of team work.

Term 1 Week 5 and 6

Dear A,

As mentioned today during lesson,

1) the team need to buck up and update your postings to show the progress of the team and post up your weekly worksheets. When updating your personal reflections, append your update to the bottom of your previous posting, but put the words "UPDATE xx Feb 2010" before you start updating. Let's set a deadline for this very important task of updating your postings: 13 Feb 2010 2359 hrs. When I log in on "chu yi", I hope to see this blog updated. And anyway, its auspicious to start the Chinese New Year well.
2) Complete lesson 5 (today's lesson) and 6 (next Tuesday's lesson, which falls on 3rd day of CNY holidays) by the time you come back to class on 24th Feb. I promised you today and I want to keep my promise to give out my reward on 24th Feb. So please do not disappoint me and yourselves.
3) Target to complete your product by the first week of term 2, working hard over the 1 week March holidays to complete as much as possible. Reserve the few weeks of term 2 for the report and preparing for presentation. Pl remember term 2 will be very short, only about 6 weeks before SA1 and another 2 weeks after SA1. As we near SA1. I don't think its a good idea to be still working on the product as we should be focusing our energy on preparing for the exams. So please plan and keep an eye on the schedule and progress of the project.
4) When planning your game, you need to set a target group for your game so that the intended players of the game learn from the game. Your survey is important to help you find out what are the misconceptions that your intended audience have regarding your topic.

Oh yes, I'd like to share with you this blog by your fellow marists : go to the Grace info site and look for the blog of Sec 2D index -12. I like the skin and maybe we can add music to our blog? :-)

OK, looking forward to your updates and hope we do well in this project. Happy Chinese New Year, and may all 4 of you have a 'prosperous' and happy New Year.

Mrs Dhar

2.10.2010

4th Lesson Reflection ( Sam Leung )

In today's IPW lesson, we posted the guidelines for the project which was brainstromed by the group. There is still much work to be done and as the deadline looms nearer, we have to bulk-up to create the product be term 3.

3rd Lesson Worksheet

2.02.2010

3rd Lesson Reflection By Keng Heem

The group came up with some very good ideas and we were starting to work together very well.

UPDATE:
We made 9 guiding questions that will help us while we plan out our board game. Thinking up of the questions was easy, but making sure that they actually help us took more effort. But I am sure we will be able do it.

3rd Lesson Reflection by Jingrong

Today's lesson was quite productive as we came up with 9 guiding questions, but we could have done better. Our team had a few minor disagreements here and there but these were settled quickly.

3rd Lesson Reflection (Linus)

I find that today's lesson was quite well done, but we did not work well as a team. I hope that next time we will be able to work better as a team.

1.29.2010

Term 1 Week 4

Dear A

I am disappointed.... after waiting from Wed 27/1 to today 29/1, I decided I could not wait any more. I have spoken to Jingrong and Sam on Monday 25/1, telling them that due to the off day on Wed 27/1, the team has to arrange a time on your own to meet up and discuss lesson 3, then post your worksheet and personal reflection by 27/1 8pm. However, I waited 3 days, and I still see nothing.

Team, the project is 15 weeks long and we have 15 lessons to cover, however, it does not mean that just because a public holiday or school holiday fall on our lesson day, the project is going to extend to 16 or more weeks. Instead, for every holiday that fall on our lesson day, it means that we have 1 week less to meet, but we still need to complete the 15 lessons by hook or by crook!

So when I see you guys on Tuesday 2/2, I'd expect you to have at least
1) selected a project title and
2) listed down some guiding questions
If not, we'd have to do 2 lessons on Tue 2/2 and you know how short that 1 period is..... you'd still need to do homework after Tue to complete the tasks on Lesson 3 and 4. Either way it means working extra on your own, either before or after Tuesday 2/2.

One more thing, till now, your personal reflections have been quite trivial, I could not see from your personal reflections, what you have discussed during the lesson. Did you watch Avatar? Did you see how the lead character, Jake Sully, record his videologue? Note the difference between the content of his videologue and your personal reflection. Our personal reflection serves as a means to document down our discussion of the week, so that we can look back after 15 weeks and recall what you discussed during the lesson. This is especially useful when you start writing your project report. Understand? So I hope to see an improvement in this area too.

Lastly but not the least, Keng Heem, how about a shoutbox so that we can leave messages for each other?

OK that's all, see you guys on Tuesday!

Mrs Dhar

1.27.2010

2nd Lesson Reflection by Jingrong

On the second lesson,we discussed even deeper on our topic. All of us had shared a bit but it was quite confusing as everybody wanted to speak at the same time. This is one point we can improve on.I hope during the next lesson we will be able to progress further.

1.19.2010

Term 1 Week 3

Dear A,

Good job. You have shown some improvement today in terms of working together. Sitting together as a group surely improve your teamwork. But you still came unprepared for today's lesson :-( I hope you'd do better in this next week. Do download the lessons (zip file)in advance and come prepared in the future lessons ok?

Now I must commend Keng Heem for the wonderful blog. I like your use of the labels. Makes the blog very neat. Good job.

Discipline master Sam and Leader Jingrong, where are your personal reflections?

I hope the team has decided on a project title.... you need to select one fast and start working on it. It is already week 3 and time and tide waits for no man. The tasks that follow in the next few lessons will not allow you to go back and change topic so make a firm decision now. If the team has not decided on a project title, then please use the rest of this week to meet up and discuss. By next Tue, the team should have made a decision.

Mrs Dhar

2nd Lesson Worksheet

2nd Lesson Reflection By Keng Heem

We have all decided on exactly what we want to do (a board game) and have a rough idea of what it will be like.

UPDATE:
All of us had many ideas on what kind of game we wanted to do, but after comparing pros and cons of the different types of games, we decided to do a board game.

2nd Lesson Refection (Linus)

Today, we continued what we did last week, we had more ideas and we are now better prepared for our project

1st Lesson Reflection by Jingrong

I feel that the first lesson was quite interesting. We decided on the group's name and also our topic. We had some moments where there was tension but this can be dealt with by bonding more.I believe we can do better for the rest of the lessons.

1.14.2010

Term 1 week 2

Dear A

Welcome to Grace 2010. Today we met for the first time. I think the lesson went well. There are areas of improvement of course, which I hope to see in the weeks that follow:

1) All members should download and go through the presentation and worksheet for the week BEFORE the lesson every week.
2) During 1 period of lesson time, members jump straight into discussing the tasks to be done and complete the tasks within the lesson.
3) All worksheet and personal reflections should be posted by 8pm of the same day.
4) All posts should be traceable to each member, so as long as you specify your name in each post that you made, I do not mind usernames like samlord, pyromaniac and

Nonetheless, this being the first lesson and you guys being unprepared, you have followed my instructions in class and were able to start off and begin the lesson without further ado. Well done. Keep striving to be the best group and you will be the one. Go for it!

Mrs Dhar

PS:
1) Still awaiting for your worksheet for today. Please take a screen shot of your worksheet and post by 14/1/2010 11am
2) Still awaiting for personal reflections by Jingrong. Please post it by 12/11/2010 11am
3) I suggest you post your personal reflections using the personal reflection template. As with the worksheet for each week, take a screenshot of the personal reflection template and post it up as your personal reflection after editing it. To understand what I mean, look at http://2010-2e-29-32.blogspot.com/

1st Lesson Reflection By Keng Heem

We did not do a lot but we did decided on our topic. It's a good beginning but we could improve on teamwork. I hope that we can achieve something great.

UPDATE:
We were not working very well probably because it was the first time that we were working together. But it was not had to try and give in to each other.

1st Lesson Reflection (Linus)

In the first lesson, we discussed about our group name and roles, we also did our very first assignment. I enjoyed todays lesson and got to know my classmates better as i hardly work together with them. Today was a good start, i hope we can continue like this.
